It is really the ultimate test in the game, in my opinion. Rory Mcilroy was going strong and at the start of the 10th hole on the final day and missed his drive left which started the domino effect on his round. I was hoping he would pull it off. Instead, a virtually unknown South African player, Charl Schwartzel, rose to the occasion with birdies on the final four holes. This painting is an homage to the masters and is the 16th hole, a challenging par 3 that has been a game changer in past masters! This piece is 15 x 30 Oil on canvas and is Titled "Moment of Truth" for inquiries into this or other paintings please contact me at my email address scott@smpalmerart.com

thank you for looking!

Its The Little Things

It has been said that "its the little things in life" that give us true joy. This is one of those moments. My friend, Paul Stankowski, won his first pga tournament back in 1997. He won on an Easter sunday. As he walked up to the green to pull his ball out of the cup, he raised his hat and looked heavenward to honor his Lord and give him glory. I painted this piece with a limited pallet to give it more of a retro feel to it! It is a gift for him and I hope that he has more victories to come!

In The Zone

The great thing about golf is that one moment you are crushing a drive 290...or in my case around 250 down the fairway and the next moment you are pensively considering a putt. The range of emotions and energy required for different shots make this game the total challenge for any player. This painting captures such a moment, where the golfer must now navigate the subtle breaks and slope to finish this hole. There is no thought about the next drive or what the other players are doing. Its all about this moment and to make it count you must have tunnel vision! Hence the title of this 15" x 30" Oil painting.

Capturing The Moment

Pebble Beach is probably one of the most beautiful courses in existence and it can also be one of the most challenging, at least on certain holes. This piece captures the golfer hitting a long second shot on the par 5 and the caddie watches hoping that it will be enough. As golfers we have all said this after an approach shot and this piece is aptly titled.." Be Right" the painting is 12 x 24 in Oil and just recently sold at an art show in Palm Springs!

Green Ambitions

Impressions of the game. A critical shot, pressure putt, Wedge to win, and finally victory. These will be the types of images that i attempt to capture with my paintings. The impressions are the impressionistic style of painting that i use to capture such moments. I prefer this painterly approach versus the super detailed photographic paintings, because i feel that this style suggests a mood or emotion that photographic paintings cannot! I hope you enjoy these works as i create them and all of them are for sale unless otherwise noted in the post! thank you for looking and i always appreciate your comments. This first piece was entitled "Green Ambitions" and is a piece depicting a pga pro and his caddie trying to decide the best shot into this precarious green. The course you may recognize from the PGA championship at Whistling Straits. It was a par 5 hole that got many players in trouble but also helped those who could reach the green in two and so this painting is appropriately titled "Green Ambitions" I do have the original and giclee prints available of this work. the piece is 18 x 24 and is in Oil.
